Krishna University Personality Development & Soft Skills Training to all its Students.

The university has cleared six courses to be started from this year

The newly-established Krishna University at Machilipatnam is set to give necessary importance to the personality development and soft skills training to students of all its future courses. This is to enable their students face competition in the job market and acquire talent to pursue further education.
The university will have experts to take care of these skills, which will be imparted to students in non-credit category. The university’s planning and monitoring committee has cleared six courses to be started from this year and all these courses have potential to generate employment for the candidates.

Vice-Chancellor of Krishna University M.K. Durga Prasad says that the courses being offered now relate to business administration, computer applications, biotechnology, pharmaceutical chemistry, English literature and journalism & mass communication. They have considered introducing a post-graduate course in fine arts with renowned Kuchipudi dance as one of the subjects, but it is not immediately finalised considering lack of an estimate about students’ response.

Prof. Durga Prasad says that the fine arts course with subjects on local art and heritage in the district will be considered at a later stage after the university makes some progress by taking employment-generating courses nearer to the students. The objective of the university is to provide affordable and best education to the students without compromising on quality and standards, he asserts.

The university is established in pursuance of the recommendations of the Knowledge Commission at the district headquarters of Krishna district. Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy laid the foundation stone for the university on April 23 this year. Prof. Durga Prasad, a professor of zoology and aquaculture, Acharya Nagarjuna University, was appointed its first Vice-Chancellor, and he took charge on July 28. Dr. Y. Kishore, director of physical education, ANU, was appointed Registrar.

Prof. Durga Prasad says the university has decided to involve industrialists on the board of studies to keep track of industry relevant syllabus and provide this to students to enable them get good opportunities.
